Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information TempMaily (“we”, “us”) processes when you use
tempmaily.net and the temporary addresses on eee.best, why, and for
how long. The short version: we keep very little, and almost everything is deleted within an hour.
Privacy questions: privacy@tempmaily.net.
1. Information we process
Emails sent to your temporary address
When someone sends a message to your temporary address, our mail server stores: the sender’s address and name, the recipient address, the subject, the plain-text body, a cleaned (sanitized) version of the HTML body, the message size, the time it was received, and the file names of any attachments. Attachments themselves are discarded and never stored. We also note the IP address of the server that delivered the message in our mail server logs.
Each message is deleted automatically one hour after it arrives. When your address expires (one hour after it was created) or you press “Delete now”, the address and all remaining messages are deleted immediately. We do not keep backups or archives of email content.
Your inbox key
When we create an inbox, your browser receives a long random key in a cookie named tm_inbox.
It is what lets you – and only you – open that inbox. We store only a one-way hash of the key. The cookie
is strictly necessary for the service to work and expires together with your inbox.
Used addresses
After an address expires we remember the address itself (nothing else) for 30 days so it isn’t given to someone new who could then receive mail intended for the previous user.
Technical and security data
Like any website, our servers receive your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use IP addresses briefly, in memory, to prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many requests can be made per minute). Our web server access logs record a shortened IP address (the last part is removed), the page requested, the time and your browser type. These logs are rotated automatically and kept only for a short time for security and troubleshooting.
Settings stored only in your browser
Your light/dark theme choice and which messages you’ve already opened are saved in your browser’s local storage. This information never leaves your device.
What we don’t collect
We don’t have user accounts, we don’t ask for your name, and we don’t use analytics or tracking tools of our own. We never send email, so we never use your temporary address to contact you.
2. Advertising and cookies
We show ads from Google AdSense on our informational pages (not inside your inbox or message viewer).
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info.
- Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Your consent choices. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you’ll be asked for consent through Google’s certified consent management platform before personalized ads or advertising cookies are used. Until you choose, ads are limited to non-personalized formats as allowed by law. Where required in the United States, you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information through the same tool. You can change your choices at any time using the “Privacy & cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.
3. Why we process information (legal bases)
- To provide the service you request – receiving and showing your email, keeping your inbox private (performance of a contract / legitimate interests).
- To keep the service secure – rate limiting, preventing abuse and investigating reports (legitimate interests).
- To show ads that fund the service – personalized ads only with your consent where required; non-personalized ads based on our legitimate interests.
- To meet legal obligations – responding to valid legal requests.
4. How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Email messages | 1 hour after arrival (or until you delete the inbox) |
| Inbox and its key hash | 1 hour after creation (or until you delete it) |
| Used address (address only) | 30 days |
| Rate-limit data (IP address, in memory) | Minutes |
| Server logs (shortened IP) | A short period; rotated automatically |
5. Who we share information with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Our hosting provider, which runs the servers the service operates on.
- Google, as our advertising partner, as described above.
- Authorities, if we are legally required to. Because email content is deleted after an hour, there is usually very little we could provide.
Our servers and partners may be located outside your country. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Because we don’t have accounts and delete inbox data within an hour, the quickest way to exercise most rights is to press Delete now in your inbox. For anything else, email privacy@tempmaily.net. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Security
All traffic to the website is encrypted with HTTPS, inboxes are protected by random keys, incoming email is sanitized and shown in an isolated viewer, and access to our servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t use temporary email for sensitive information.
8. Children
TempMaily is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We’ll post the new version here and update the effective date above.
