Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about TempMaily's free disposable email. Can't find your answer? Contact us.
What is a temporary email address?
It’s a real email address that works for a short time and then disappears. You can receive messages on it – sign-up confirmations, verification codes, download links – without giving out your personal address. On TempMaily, each address lasts one hour.
How long do my address and messages last?
Your address is active for one hour from the moment it’s created; the countdown in the inbox shows the time left. Every message is deleted one hour after it arrives, and when the address expires everything in it is deleted at once. Deleted mail can’t be recovered by anyone, including us.
Can someone else read my inbox?
Not without your secret key. When your inbox is created, your browser receives a long random key that’s stored in a secure cookie. The inbox can only be opened with that key, so knowing or guessing your address isn’t enough to read its mail. The only way to share access is the View on phone QR code – anyone who scans it can read the inbox, so don’t show it to others.
Is TempMaily free?
Yes. There’s no account, no sign-up and no payment. The service is supported by advertising on our content pages – never inside your inbox or next to your messages.
Can I send emails or reply from TempMaily?
No. TempMaily is receive-only by design. That keeps the service from being used to send spam and means nobody can send mail that appears to come from your temporary address.
Can I choose my own address?
Yes – press Custom name and type something like yourname@eee.best. Names must be 3–30 characters
(letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores). A name can’t be used while someone else has it, and
to protect previous users, an address is never handed out again for 30 days after it expires.
Why didn't my email arrive?
Most messages arrive within a few seconds. If one doesn’t show up:
- Check that the address was typed exactly, or use the Copy button.
- Make sure your address hasn’t expired – the countdown must still be running.
- Some websites block disposable email domains. If so, they’ll usually show an error on their own form.
- Messages larger than 1 MB are rejected.
The inbox refreshes automatically every five seconds; you can also press the refresh icon.
What happens to attachments?
For your safety, attachments (files, documents and embedded images) are removed when a message arrives. You’ll still see the message text and a note listing the names of the files that were removed.
Why are images hidden in some emails?
Many emails include remote images that tell the sender when and where you opened the message. TempMaily blocks remote images by default. If you trust the sender, press Load images to show them.
Is it safe to open emails here?
We take several precautions: every email is cleaned to remove scripts, forms and other active content, then displayed inside an isolated, locked-down frame that can’t run code or access the rest of the page. Links open in a new tab. Still, use common sense: don’t enter passwords on pages you reached through an unexpected email.
Should I use a temporary email for important accounts?
No. Use your real address for anything you’ll need later – banking, shopping orders, work, government services or your main social media accounts. Once a temporary address expires you can’t receive password resets or account notices on it, and the mail can’t be recovered.
Can I extend the time or keep my address?
No. Every address lasts exactly one hour, which keeps the service simple and private. When you need another address, press Generate new.
Can I use my temporary inbox on my phone?
Yes. TempMaily works in any mobile browser. To move an inbox you opened on your computer to your phone, press View on phone and scan the QR code with your phone’s camera.
How do I report abuse?
If you believe a TempMaily address is being used for fraud or abuse, email abuse@tempmaily.net with the address and the date and time. Because messages are deleted after an hour, please report quickly.
